Privacy policy
Updated 3 October 2026
Bite uses information to help you browse restaurant menus, manage accounts, place orders and use restaurant services. This notice explains that processing and your choices.
Who is responsible
Bite Technology Limited provides Bite, Bite POS, Bite AI and our websites. Contact us at admin@bite.technology for privacy questions or requests. This notice covers those services; features and the information involved vary by app, version and restaurant.
Bite is responsible for its own account, service administration and support information. Restaurants also decide how to use information for their orders, reservations, customer relationships and accounting. Where we handle those records on a restaurant's instructions, we act as its service provider. Tell us which restaurant and service your request concerns so we can help direct it.
Information we use
- Accounts and visits: account or guest-session identifiers, login and contact details where supplied, language and preferences. Business accounts also include venue membership, roles and assigned devices. A guest session can still link your visit and orders even if you do not enter a name.
- Restaurant visits and reviews: visits are saved privately to your account, including guest accounts. Reviews contain the ratings and optional comments you submit. Published reviews are visible to other diners without your account identifier; comments are moderated before publication and reports support moderation. Visits are self-reported, not proof of a purchase. You can remove visits and reviews from restaurant details. Associated feedback and moderation records are included in the scope of account-deletion requests.
- Orders and restaurant services: selected dishes and options, table or delivery details, notes, bookings and contact information you or the restaurant provide. We also process order history, payment status and references, receipt and fiscal information. Payment providers handle card entry and payment processing; Bite receives transaction information needed to operate and reconcile the order.
- Location, search and maps: the area or address you enter and, when you allow location access, device coordinates used for nearby results or a delivery address. Search text and coordinates can be sent to our service and the mapping provider used by the feature. You can decline location access and use the available manual choices.
- Optional device features: notification permission and delivery tokens for notifications; camera access for menu scanning or Bite AI presence detection where offered. You can change permissions in device settings.
- AI assistance, where offered: conversation text and relevant order context, such as the table, selected products and amounts. Speech features also process your voice; whether speech is processed on the device or through a provider depends on the configured service and version. Avoid including sensitive information unrelated to your request.
- Support and service operation: information you send by email, and network, device, request and error information generated when you use the service. This can include an IP address, device or browser details, account identifiers and information involved in a failed request.
We receive information from you, your device, the restaurant and providers involved in your transaction. Restaurant listings may also use restaurant-supplied information and public geographic data, with attribution where required.
Why we use information
We use information to provide requested services, manage accounts and restaurant operations, process and reconcile orders and payments, and respond to support requests. Where necessary to perform a contract with you or take steps you request before a contract, that is our legal basis. For business contacts, service administration, troubleshooting and security, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service. We process records required by accounting or other applicable law to meet legal obligations.
Where optional processing relies on your consent, you can withdraw it through the relevant feature or by contacting us. Device permissions can also be changed in system settings. Withdrawal does not undo processing already carried out. Without information necessary for a particular transaction or account, we may be unable to complete that service.
Who receives information
The relevant restaurant receives information needed to fulfil and manage your order or reservation. We use Supabase for authentication, database and file services, hosting providers such as Vercel for websites, and email services to handle correspondence.
Depending on the feature and restaurant, recipients also include payment providers such as Stripe or SumUp, connected receipt and fiscal systems, and mapping providers such as Google, Apple or OpenStreetMap tile services. Notification delivery can involve Expo and the device platform's Apple or Google services. These providers receive the information needed for their part of the service.
Configured AI services can send conversation text and order context to DeepSeek, Anthropic or OpenAI to interpret a request and generate a response. Processing and retention by those providers are separate from Bite's database. Stopping an AI interaction does not recall information already sent.
We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to handle a legal claim. Providers can process information outside your country. Contact us for the processing locations and transfer arrangements applicable to the service you use; this notice does not promise that all information stays in the UK or EU.
How long information is kept
Retention depends on the type of record, the ongoing account or restaurant service, support and security needs, unresolved payments or disputes, and applicable accounting and legal obligations. Financial records can need to remain after an account or visit ends. Provider logs, device storage and backup copies have separate retention arrangements.
We do not promise a single automatic deletion period across these systems. Follow our account deletion steps to request deletion or information about retention for your account and service. Signing out, uninstalling the app, clearing local storage or ending a conversation does not by itself delete records already held by Bite, a restaurant or a provider.
Your rights and choices
Depending on the applicable law and processing, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal information. Email admin@bite.technology or follow our account deletion steps; we may need to verify your identity. If a restaurant controls the relevant records, we can direct your request to it. Some information may need to be retained for a legal obligation or unresolved transaction, and a request is not confirmation that deletion has finished.
Your right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Tell us which processing concerns you using the contact address above.
You can raise concerns with your local data protection authority, including the UK Information Commissioner's Office or, in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
Cookies and local storage
Our apps and websites use device or browser storage for functions such as login sessions, saved preferences, bookmarks, an order in progress and cached app files. Maps and payment services may also use their own storage. Browser or device controls can clear or restrict storage, which may sign you out or interrupt an order. Visiting a page is not itself consent to optional cookies or other optional processing.
Changes to this notice
We update this page when our services or processing change and show the revision date above. Please contact us if you need help understanding how this notice applies to your use of Bite.
